Some wedding days simply run smoothly. And then there are wedding days that remind you exactly why you became a wedding planner. 18 July 2026 was one of those days: Meret & Nikola got married at the enea tree museum in Rapperswil-Jona – half an hour’s drive from Zurich, surrounded by old trees, an orangery and a pond. Around 120 guests, a symbolic ceremony in the tree avenue, a champagne tower in front of the orangery, a long table beneath crystal chandeliers on the lakeside terrace – and a party that only ended in the early hours.

Two things made this day unforgettable: a camera crew from the German TV show Pro7 Galileo followed us all day long. And the sky put us to the test twice with torrential rain – until the dark clouds finally cleared just before the ceremony. In this post we take you through a day full of aesthetics, nail-biting moments and teamwork. At the end you will find all vendors and an FAQ about getting married at enea.

enea in Rapperswil-Jona – a wedding venue on Lake Zurich

The enea tree museum created by landscape architect Enzo Enea lies in Rapperswil-Jona on the upper part of Lake Zurich, about 30 kilometres from Zurich. Getting married here doesn’t mean celebrating in a hall with a garden – it means celebrating in a garden with rooms: the tree avenue becomes the ceremony site, the glass orangery with its grand chandelier the backdrop for the champagne reception, and the showroom with its glass front and terrace right on the pond the setting for dinner and party.

For us as wedding planners, enea is a venue you have to love – and one you have to take seriously. Ceremony, reception and dinner are each a few hundred metres of garden path apart. Furniture has to move several times, and every area needs its own plan B. We had already designed one wedding here – in a black & white concept. For Meret & Nikola it was going to be light, romantic and all in white and blush.

The concept: white, blush and crystal

Meret & Nikola wanted a wedding that felt elegant and light at the same time – no kitsch, lots of light and big floral gestures. The result was a concept in white, cream and soft blush: white roses, hydrangeas and peach-pink anthuriums, light wooden chairs with paper-cord seats, linen table textiles and crystal wherever you looked. The architecture of enea – glass, wood, water and the lush green of the trees – always remained the stage.

It was important to us that every part of the day had its own mood while everything still felt like one piece: floral ground installations at the ceremony, a white bar area in front of the orangery, a 34-metre-long table beneath chandeliers for dinner and disco balls with pampas grass for the party.

Getting ready at the Hotel Sonne in Küsnacht

The day began on Lake Zurich, at the boutique Hotel Sonne in Küsnacht. Bride and groom got ready in separate rooms – the bride with her girls in white robes, the groom with his boys, who were already setting the mood with sunglasses in the morning. Linda Musacchio and her team took care of hair & make-up.

Torrential rain before the ceremony: plan B twice, within minutes

While the couple were still being styled in Küsnacht, a storm was gathering over Rapperswil-Jona. The ceremony was fully set up: 120 wooden chairs in the tree avenue, the white platform, the large floral installations on the gravel. Then the downpour came.

We reacted within minutes: every single chair was covered with plastic sheeting and delicate decor was brought to safety. On the lakeside terrace, where the long table had already been laid, it was all hands on deck: protect the chandeliers, gather up napkins, menu cards and glasses, secure the table linen. And just when we thought the worst was over, the second downpour arrived – and everything started all over again.

Honestly: it was a real nail-biter. The orangery was ready as plan B – but all guests would have had to stand. We kept our eyes glued to the weather radar, re-aligned the timing with the couple and the celebrant and kept the team on standby. And then, shortly before the ceremony, the clouds broke. Sheeting off, chairs wiped dry, flowers rearranged – just a few minutes late, the ceremony began in glorious sunshine.

These are exactly the moments that show what a wedding planner is for: the couple noticed next to nothing of all the excitement. For them, it was simply a sunny afternoon.

Pro7 Galileo follows our wedding planning

As if that wasn’t enough excitement: on this day a camera crew from the German TV show Pro7 Galileo was with us. For a report about the job of a wedding planner, the crew followed us from the morning set-up through the rain chaos to the evening – laying the table, placing the flowers, briefing the vendors and, of course, racing against the clouds.

For us it was a real honour – and an honest look behind the scenes. Because the report shows what guests usually don’t see: how many hands, arrangements and decisions it takes for everything to look effortless in the end. You can find more of our TV appearances in our TV and press section.

The symbolic ceremony in the tree avenue

Meret & Nikola were married at the end of the tree avenue, on a large white platform three metres in diameter. On both sides, floral ground installations of white roses, hydrangeas, anthuriums and blush roses seemed to grow right out of the gravel. Guests sat on light Scandinavian-style wooden chairs, the aisles stayed clear – with a view down the avenue.

We had thought of everything for the guests: 40 white paper parasols against the sun, a water station beneath a large white pagoda umbrella, fans and little packs labelled “For the tears of joy”.

Then it began: first the groomsmen walked in – in sunglasses, of course – followed by the bridesmaids in pairs, then the groom to a Serbian song. And finally the bride on her father’s arm.

Celebrant Isabell Maurer led the ceremony in a personal and moving way, with live music by Acoustic Affection. One of the most beautiful moments was the ritual: every guest wrote down wishes for the couple, which were then sealed in a box together with a bottle of wine and the newspaper of the wedding day – a time capsule for a future anniversary. The rings were brought forward by the nephew of Nikola’s mother.

Champagne reception with a champagne tower in front of the orangery

After the ceremony the party moved along the garden path to the square in front of the orangery. Waiting there: a white mobile bar, cocktail tables with round linen tablecloths, a lounge with outdoor armchairs and six white pagoda umbrellas around the old stone fountain. Live music by Acoustic Affection, an ice cream cart and finger food from the caterer made the time until the couple’s return fly by.

The highlight: the champagne tower. After their couple shoot, Meret & Nikola entered through the orangery, the doors opened – and together they filled the tower of champagne coupes. It stood on a white bar column on wheels, framed by flowers. A perfect start.

Dinner at a long table beneath crystal chandeliers

While the guests enjoyed the reception, the next turnaround was happening behind the scenes: the 120 wooden chairs moved from the tree avenue to the lakeside terrace, flowers were relocated and the table was checked one last time. Guests then reached dinner via a narrow path right along the pond.

Waiting for them was a long table without a single break – 14 banquet tables lined up over around 34 metres, laid with milk-white linen tablecloths, beige linen napkins, matte silver cutlery and glass cylinder vases with candles. Above it floated eight crystal chandeliers on curved arch stands, catching the evening light. At the head of the table stood two fairy-drape chandeliers, embedded in a lush floral installation.

The seating plan hung on a large fabric banner at the entrance to the terrace, flanked by cylinder vases up to 90 centimetres tall with candles. As soon as everyone was seated, the couple made their entrance – to Serbian live music with brass that got the whole terrace moving. Guests waved their napkins and danced before the starter had even arrived.

For the menu, the team from Rührberger Hof went for food to share: burrata with colourful tomatoes, prawns with couscous and labneh with flatbread to start, followed by chateaubriand with béarnaise sauce, green asparagus, chanterelles and truffle fries. After dinner the couple cut the cake – a long cake that stretched right across the table.

Party in the showroom: disco balls, saxophone and a dance show

At 10 pm the light changed. In the showroom Meret & Nikola danced their first dance – the guests waved glow sticks and our floor spots set the dance floor in scene. Disco balls in four sizes and large vases of pampas grass turned the modern space into an elegant club.

After that it was one highlight after another: the bride returned in her party dress, the groomsmen delivered a rehearsed dance show and saxophonist Nico played his way right through the crowd. DJ Randy from Randy Club kept the dance floor full well into the night – and the midnight snack was burgers and fries.

Behind the scenes: a big team and several turnarounds

For this wedding, rockwedding and our rental company vonRock Events were on site with a large team as event agency. We started setting up on Friday and continued from 8 am on Saturday. With two vans and around 2.2 tonnes of equipment from our warehouses in Elzach and Waldkirch (southern Germany), we headed to Lake Zurich.

What guests usually don’t see: a wedding like this consists of several turnarounds. The chairs moved from the ceremony to dinner, florals moved from the ceremony to the terrace, and linen from the reception became the cake table. The flowers were delivered by Echtzeit Floristik; we placed them on site in a video call with the florist. After the storm, some areas had to be completely rebuilt – and during the night from Saturday to Sunday we started breaking down at 3:30 am.

Why a wedding planner in Zurich is worth it

This wedding shows very clearly what a wedding planner can do for you – especially for a garden wedding on Lake Zurich:

  • A plan B that really works: we plan the bad-weather option from the very beginning – and make quick, calm decisions on the day.
  • One point of contact for everything: for Meret & Nikola we coordinated 16 vendors, from the caterer to childcare.
  • Logistics across several areas: ceremony, reception, dinner and party in four places – with turnarounds nobody should notice.
  • Design from a single source: concept, floral briefing and rental furniture from vonRock work hand in hand.
  • You are guests at your own wedding: you don’t have to worry about anything – not even a storm.

FAQ: Getting married at enea Rapperswil-Jona

Where is the enea tree museum?

enea is located at Buechstrasse 12, 8645 Rapperswil-Jona, on the upper part of Lake Zurich. From Zurich it takes around 30 to 50 minutes by car, and about an hour from Zurich Airport.

How many guests can enea accommodate?

According to Zurich Tourism, enea can host up to 350 people in total, and the orangery up to 110 guests for a reception. Meret & Nikola celebrated with around 120 guests – dinner on the lakeside terrace, party in the showroom.

Which areas of enea can be used for a wedding?

Options include the tree avenue for a symbolic ceremony, the orangery, the showroom with its terrace on the pond, the piazza and the pavilion. Meret & Nikola held their ceremony in the tree avenue, the reception in front of the orangery, dinner on the lakeside terrace and the party in the showroom.

What happens if it rains at enea?

Every area needs a plan B, for example the orangery for the ceremony or a tent or the showroom for the reception. For Meret & Nikola we had to protect the ceremony from heavy rain twice – chairs were covered and the table secured. Shortly before the ceremony the sun came out, and it took place outdoors just a few minutes late.

Is there parking at enea?

Yes, according to our planning around 100 parking spaces are available. Reservations are possible by arrangement with the venue.

Where can wedding guests stay overnight?

There are many hotels around Lake Zurich, for example in Rapperswil, Küsnacht or Zurich. Meret & Nikola got ready at the boutique Hotel Sonne in Küsnacht.

Can decor and furniture be delivered from Germany to Switzerland?

Yes. For this wedding our rental company vonRock Events brought around 2.2 tonnes of equipment in two vans from southern Germany to Lake Zurich, set it up, rebuilt it several times and took it down again.

How much does a wedding planner in Zurich cost?

The cost depends on whether you want full planning, partial planning or coordination on the wedding day. You can find our packages on our services page, and we are happy to advise you personally.

Why hire a wedding planner for a wedding on Lake Zurich?

Garden venues like enea are beautiful but logistically demanding: several areas, turnarounds, weather. A wedding planner coordinates all vendors, prepares plan B and makes the decisions on the day – so you can simply enjoy your wedding.
