A ceremony right in the forest
Our couple Alyssa & Brad contacted us and told us that they wanted to get married in the Black Forest – right in the forest or by a waterfall.
There was a sad reason behind it: shortly before, the groom Brad had lost his parents, and a big wedding celebration would simply have been too hard emotionally. Alyssa also told us that she didn’t want to put her husband through such an emotional rollercoaster on their wedding day. As Brad comes from Philadelphia but studied in Freiburg, the wish to hold the wedding in the Black Forest was there straight away.
Todtnau Waterfall
A wedding for nature lovers
These two nature lovers adore autumn, forests and waterfalls. We booked them an elegant wedding suite at the Black Forest Lodge on the Feldberg, where the getting ready also took place. Dominic, our wedding photographer, couldn’t take enough pictures of all the shoes, decoration, dresses and wonderful furniture.
Of course, we also organised the complete bridal styling, the taxi transfer, the location search, the permits and much more. The highlight of the wedding took place with a breathtaking view at the Todtnau Waterfall. With celebrant Miriam Krug from Freiburg, there was a beautiful ceremony high above the valleys of the Black Forest. The couple built their circle of love from natural materials – such a lovely idea. After the ceremony, wedding planner Anna-Maria poured champagne and wedding photographer Dominic whisked the newlyweds away for their photo shoot.
A hike on the wedding day
The bride had packed her best wedding hiking boots – and how lucky that was, because the route led over a few rocks to the most beautiful spot at the Todtnau Waterfall. Our “golden EYE” wedding arch, together with pampas grass, wooden crossback chairs and candles, created just the right wedding atmosphere. This beautiful autumn day will stay in our memories forever, and we thank the couple for placing so much trust in our wedding planner Anna-Maria and photographer Dominic.
To round off their wedding day, our couple visited the “Herrehus” at Schloss Reinach, a gourmet restaurant near Freiburg.
The whole wedding planning team wishes them all the very best!
Our tips for your elopement in the Black Forest
An elopement is the most intimate way to get married – and that’s exactly why good preparation pays off. For a ceremony in nature, for example at the Todtnau Waterfall, you need permits, an accessible spot for the arch and decor, and a realistic schedule for the drive and the walk.
Think about practicalities: comfortable shoes for the way to the ceremony (the bride brought her hiking boots), warm clothes for an autumn day in the mountains and a beautiful place for getting ready – for example a suite in a nearby lodge.
Even without a crowd of guests, the ceremony can be truly special: a celebrant, an arch with pampas grass, candles and a personal ritual such as a circle of love made of natural materials make the moment unforgettable.
