A SPRING WEDDING DURING THE TULIP BLOSSOM ON LAKE CONSTANCE
Our lovely couple Julia & Christoph came to us so that we could plan their dream day on Mainau Island together. We developed the entire decoration concept and accompanied the wedding on site as masters of ceremony to make sure everything ran smoothly.
CHURCH CEREMONY
A SUNNY SPRING DAY IN THE CASTLE CHURCH OF ST. MARIEN
At the end of April the big day had finally arrived, and Mainau Island showed itself from its most beautiful side: sunshine and blooming tulips as far as the eye could see. For us, the day began in the castle church of St. Marien in the middle of the island, where more than 100 chair covers were fitted, order-of-service booklets handed out and tall flower balls arranged.
When the couple arrived at the church in a vintage car, a large crowd of onlookers quickly gathered – the bride simply looked enchanting.
Decoration concept
TULIPS, FUCHSIA AND GOLDEN DETAILS TO MATCH THE SEASON
When creating the decoration concept, it was quickly clear: the design should perfectly suit Mainau Island and the springtime.
The tulip was therefore chosen as the main flower – combined with the wedding colours fuchsia, green and a touch of gold.
The table decoration was deliberately kept clean and modern. Tulips were arranged head to head in round vases, the napkins were tied with green ribbon and the hall was additionally lit with fuchsia floor spots.
RECEPTION ON LAKE CONSTANCE
A DRINKS RECEPTION AT THE SWAN FOUNTAIN AND A BOAT TRIP ON LAKE CONSTANCE
After the ceremony, the wedding party headed to the Swan Fountain for a drinks reception with a dreamy view of Lake Constance.
The guests then set off on a boat tour across the lake together – meanwhile, behind the scenes, we started preparing the evening venue.
Evening programme
AN ATMOSPHERIC EVENING AT THE COMTUREY ON MAINAU ISLAND
At the Comturey restaurant, our tasks were: placing name cards and wedding favours, tying napkins, arranging flowers, setting up table numbers and preparing the entire hall.
Everything was ready at 6 pm on the dot, just as the guests returned from their boat tour.
They were welcomed on the Comturey terrace with a glass of sparkling wine and live music, followed by dinner, emotional highlights and a wonderful evening together.

Our tips for your wedding on Mainau Island
Mainau Island changes with the seasons – and that is exactly what you can use for your wedding design. At this wedding at the end of April, tulips were the main flower, combined with fuchsia, green and a touch of gold. Picking up on what’s in bloom on the island gives you a concept that blends naturally into its surroundings.
A wedding on an island also means routes, time slots and set-up have to be planned carefully. The guests’ boat trip on Lake Constance was not only a highlight but also gave us time to finish preparing the evening venue. Programme points like this are ideal for elegantly bridging set-up breaks.
