A symbolic beach ceremony with sea views and island feeling
At the beginning of September, we were on Gozo near Malta as wedding planners. Our couple from Switzerland wanted a symbolic ceremony on the beach, which we planned over several months with lots of passion.
Thanks to our collaboration with a Maltese wedding agency, the organisation on site was perfectly coordinated as well. Alongside planning and coordination, a photographer and videographer also came along to capture this special day.
The white pavilion on the red beach was a real eye-catcher against the dreamy backdrop. Together with white folding chairs, it made for a relaxed ceremony set-up that perfectly suited the island atmosphere.
A celebrant led the ceremony – accompanied by the sound of the sea. This was followed by a short drinks reception right on the beach, with an exuberant and informal mood.
DINNER, DETAILS & EVENING ATMOSPHERE
Lanterns, shells and dinner under the open sky
While the guests enjoyed the reception, we prepared the party venue for the evening. White lanterns, shells, rose petals and string lights gave the open-air venue its special character. At round dinner tables, the decoration concept picked up the colours and materials of the island: apricot fabric napkins, stationery, shells and sand. Our white wedding chairs rounded off the overall look perfectly. Every detail counts for us – from small wedding favours to place cards. Everything gets its place and fits into the overall concept.
After sunset, an intimate couple shoot created a special atmosphere without interrupting the evening. Only in the dark did the venue show its full effect: lanterns and string lights bathed everything in warm light. A cigar and whisky bar, a fire bowl with marshmallows and a generous candy table made the evening a special finale to this wedding day in Malta.
Our tips for your beach wedding in Malta
A symbolic ceremony on the beach doesn’t need much – but it needs the right things: a pavilion or arch as the centrepiece, light seating such as white folding chairs and good acoustics for the celebrant. Remember that wind and waves can be loud; a small microphone helps.
For destination weddings it pays to work with a local agency, as we did at this wedding with a Maltese wedding agency. They know the permits, suppliers and local conditions, while we take care of the concept, planning and coordination.
For an evening in the open air, light is the most important design element: lanterns, fairy lights and a fire bowl create atmosphere as soon as the sun goes down. Use the time after sunset for a short couple shoot – the light is particularly beautiful then.
